Other artists can still register for the waiting list, though no violence towards already registered artists will be tolerated ; ) !!!

Application fees and Production fees

Both application fees and production fees (including the form) must be recieved before considering your selection.

Payment methods are Online (VISA, MasterCard, Paypal), snail mail (cheque, bank or money order made to "FRINGE Saguenay"), by phone or in person.  The Online method is offered when you complete the form.

The $25 application fees are payable up front and are non-reimbursable.

The $350 + tx ($398.74) production fees are due on the spot for the "Early Bird" selections or 30 days after the lottery date if you were with the lucky ones selected to the festival. After that delay, we have to let the next one on the waiting list take your reserved place.

If you are selected to perform at the festival and you decide to withdraw your application more than 30 days after the lottery has been done, no production fees will be returned.
If by some kind of misunderstanding your payment comes back NSF or for some other reason, your application will bounce like your cheque and we will charge you all fees that were put on us.
If, for any "finger of God" or other wrath, the festival was not being produced in full or in part, the production fees of the affected shows will be returned. In the event of any sold tickets for theses unfortunate shows, exchange or refund will be done at the festival's wil.

All fees are payable in Canadian dollars ($CAD).

Ticket prices

Decide your ticket price between 0 to 10$. We'll add a 2$ ticket service fee. If you choose a price of $1 or less, the Festival will waive it's ticket fee. Provincial and federal taxes will be charged on every transaction. As always, the whole amount that you choose (0 to 10$) will be yours.

To get more people to the shows, the Festival will sell package cards for ticket bundles or unlimited entry. For these attendees, the Festival will pay up to 7$ to the artist.

The Festival may opt to give free passes for promotional puposes and will not pay the artists for these entries.

Festival volunteers may attend shows pending they have enough points earned by working hours. No compensation will be given for volunteer attendance. The same applies for any member of the Festival management, media and festival partners. Remember that without them, the Festival wouldn't be possible.

Saguenay FRINGE Festival categories

Lottery artisits applications are split in these categories: 20% International artists, 40% Canadians and 40 % Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region. There will be 3 different draws (1 per region). Artists are split by mailing adress.

Sub-Categories could be added in future editions to give equal chance for apllicants, for example: Theatre, Music, Dance & Others.

*No language quotas are applied, but you should be aware that Saguenay Lac-St-Jean region is almost exclusively francophone. Hence, if your production uses another language than French and that comprehension is needed from the public, you may have difficulty to get public attention and not get the expected revenues. Music, signing, dance, clowns or acrobatics are evidently not affected by these issues.

Street artists

Street artists should contact us to register themselves. There's no official programming for street artist, hence no limit or quotas.

Art galleries and visual arts

The artists that wish to show their paintings or other visual art forms in the festival's venues only have to register and pay the 25$ registration fees. The places will be given on a First Come, First Served basis until all venues are filled up. Any damages to the artist exposed art are under the artist reponsability.

*On top of FRINGE venues, art galleries and public spaces are included in the Festival's itinerary but they show their own regular programming.

"Early Bird" registration

On opening date, we'll chose the first 3 applications in the International category and the first 5 applications in each of the Canadian and Regional categories; first come, first serve. The application form must be filled on the website. Upon receiving your registration and production fees, you will be a participant. For all other applicants, a lottery will be done per category and the chosen artists will have to then pay the production fees.

Lottery

Artists not selected in the 'Early Bird' will be registered for a lottery in every categories. The lottery draw will be done in public. The Festival artists programming and the waiting lists will be selected then in each category. The production form and the production costs must be both received by the Festival for considering your apllication. The production fees must be paid 30 days after your selection in the draw. If your payment is not in by 30 days, we will give your ''spot'' to the next one on the waitng list.

Waiting list

If you're put on the waiting list, do not despair! We only open the minimum number of venues that we know we'll be able to produce. When the Festival programming will be conceived, we could open more venues for the artists on the waiting list. And remember that some selected artist may decide to not participate.

One application per artist

The Saguenay FRINGE Festival only accept one registraion per artist. If you send more than one application, only the first one sent will be considered (even though we could cash in both application fees! Nahhh, joking...) You may not modify your artist, company or group name once you have sent your application form. It is formally forbidden to sell or even give away your reserved place in the festival to another artist. This would be of great prejudice to the other artists that complete their application the proper way and are on the waiting list. The festival management will enforce this rule that could go up to banshing the artist to future editions.

Representation lenght

We don't expect you to know the precise time lenght of your production when you apply. Even though It's IMPOSSIBLE to add time, it's much easier to reduce your alloted time slot. As soon as you know of any time modification in your production, please contact us IMMIDIATELY. You have a 15 minutes setup time and a 15 minutes post-show wrap-up so you should put more time than less in your application form.

It's very important to put the correct information and lenght of your show since they'll be published in the official programming. If your show extends 5 minutes more than published, your public may miss their next show.

Encore

If you have 80% of your tickets pre-sold or on your last representation, the festival management may give you an encore presentation free of charge for you!

Lodging

This is your first visit to the Saguenay region and you need a place to sleep? The Festival has put in place a pairing system between artists and "friends of the Festival" to offer you free lodging. Even though we can't guarantee any lodging spots, we'll do all in our power to find one for you for free on a first comefirst serve basis. For those who wish a more intimate setting, the Hôtel Chicoutimi offers the "forfait du festival" (lodging + "à la carte" breakfast and diner at l’International café) for $81.80 per person, double occupancy. If not, the Saguenay Youth Hostel will offer you lodging at low cost for the festival artists in priority. If money is no object, many hotels are near the festival site. We'll be happy to lead you to them.

CAFF Tour Lottery

Why not bring your show to Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver or San Francisco?

The 2011 CAFF Touring Lottery Application is now closed but will be back for 2012. Check out the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals website for more information, the application, and deadlines!

It is your responsibility to obtain, if necessary, permission to perform from any professional associations to which my artists belong;

It is your responsibility to obtain all necessary work permits, visas, tax waivers, etc. for my company and each of its individual members;

You agree to adhere to the laws of Canada and Quebec, the by-laws of the Ville de Saguenay, and the policies and procedures of the Festival.

The Festival reserves the right to cancel any performances of companies not adhering to this agreement. If your company is accepted into the Festival, this application will be considered a signed agreement between you and the Festival.

Respect of present rules and regulations

By paying the application fees, you accept and will apply these rules.

Finally, the thing to remember is that the FRINGE is really a lot of fun and pretty laid back when it rolls around. We want to make sure from the beginning that there are no misunderstandings. We don't have a lot of rules, but those we do have are there only to make things as fair as possible for everyone. 98 % of our participants tend to have a great time; the other 2 % didn't read this page. Please hang on to it: most of the questions you will have later on are probably answered here.

Happy FRINGING!
